KIDNAPPER UNCOVERED IN BAMENDA
Police in Cameroon’s Northwest Region on Tuesday held back irate residents from storming the premises of a sect where authorities rescued 30 children who had been kept in absolute seclusion for several years.
Following a tip-off, police discovered the Salam Church of Christ’s house of worship which locals say was always under tight security, had been used as a holding cell.
Eight male members of the sect, headed by a self-declared evangelist, married and shared about eight women with whom they reportedly fathered the undeclared kids aged between 2 weeks and 9 years with.
The children, who don’t attend school, never stepped out of the compound even for medical care and some of the women were co-wives with some of their daughters.
The Salam Church of Christ is one of thousands of churches, mostly charismatic houses of worship, that operate freely in Cameroon even though only 46 operate legally.
A local government official, Mr Felix Nguele Nguele, said police uncovered the sect, which does not believe in seeking medical care, after one of their sick male members died.
Human trafficking
The religious sect attracted attention when they sought to bury the deceased member, 38-year-old Ngong Harrison, without the knowledge of his family members and outsiders, Mr Nguele said.
The children have been handed over to the ministry of Social Affairs while the women will be catered for by the ministry of Women’s Empowerment.
The sect members insist there is nothing wrong with living the way they do.
Police have taken the men in for questioning and have called on people who might have lost children in any part of Cameroon to come and verify if they can recognise them among those freed from the imposed seclusion.
Cameroon is considered a source, transit point, and destination for trafficked children and women who are subjected to forced labour.
Traffickers usually aim at two or three children, mostly seen in cases where rural parents hand over their children to middlemen who pledge giving them education and a better life in metropolitan areas.
These children sometimes end up working involuntarily as domestic servants, street vendors, miners, prostitutes and plantation labourers.
About 15 per cent of Cameroonian children between 10 and 14 years are working, according to a 2008 report by the US department of Labour.
Rights activists had warned that traffickers had resorted to kidnapping their victims, as increased public awareness cut the number of children given to middlemen.

Poachers kill 28 forest elephants in Cameroon: WWF
Poachers have killed 28 endangered forest elephants in the Nki and Lobeke national parks in southeast Cameroon in recent weeks, the conservation organization WWF said on Wednesday.
Elephants in these two protected areas in the Congo Basin are facing a threat to their existence,” said Zacharie Nzooh, WWF Cameroon representative in the East Region.
Nzooh said that between February 10 and March 1, WWF found the carcasses of 23 elephants, stripped of their tusks, deep in the Nki national park. A further five were found without their tusks in the Lobeke national park, further to the east.
“The poachers used automatic weapons, such as AK-47s, reflecting the violent character of elephant poaching,” he said, adding that park wardens lacked good weapons.
In early 2012, heavily armed poachers on horseback from Chad and Sudan massacred some 200 savannah elephants in Cameroon’s Bouba Ndjida National Park.
In December, Cameroon deployed military helicopters and 600 soldiers equipped with night vision gear to try to protect the park and its wildlife.
With this i think the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife's job is at stake!

Samuel Eto'o on goal.com's Top 50 Football Rich List
The Top 50 Goal Rich List, published by football website goal.com, was arrived at by measuring “only identifiable assets including salaries, length of contract, bonuses, endorsement and sponsorship deals, accounts filed at Companies House, properties and other business interests” of the players who must be FIFA registered professional players, or registered players currently without a club, but who are actively looking to sign for a professional club.
Cameroonian Eto’o is at number 6 with an estimated salary of £365, 000 ($544,ooo) per week. The Anzhi Makachkala captain is also in line to earn as much as £244, 000 ($364, 000) a year from performance bonuses. Eto’o has played for some of the best clubs in Europe including Spanish side Barcelona and Italian giants Inter Milan.
In fact, back in 2009 when Eto’o moved from Barca to Inter, the Cameroonian striker demanded about 15 percent of the £17.7 million ($26.3 million) transfer fee, which was about £2.75 million ($4 million). Eto’o is so rich; he could even afford to buy designer watches worth £800, 000 ($1.1 million) for his national teammates at the 2010 World Cup. The Anzhi striker also owns properties in Paris, Milan and Cameroon.Others include Didier Drogba , Michael Essien and Yaya Toure

Samuel Eto'o claims wanted dead !
Samuel Eto’o has accused Cameroonian football officials of wanting him dead.
The former Barcelona and Real Madrid star made the astonishing claim in an online interview in his homeland, during which he also revealed that he requires the attention of ‘gendarmes’, or military police.
The Cameroon captain, who has been named African player of the year four times, has been at loggerheads with his country’s association for some time, though these latest allegations have taken the fall out to a whole new level.
According to reports, Eto’o was speaking to magazine Je Wanda when he said: ‘The leaders of the FCF want to attack my life, they want to kill me.
‘I live with a group of gendarmes and one sleeping in front of my door. I do this not out of snobbery, but for my own safety.’
Eto’o, who now plays his club football with mega-rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, accused chiefs of being ‘incompetant and corrupt’ while also claiming that he receives his shirt to play in directly from supplier Puma, rather than the football association.
He added: ‘[The federation] have swindled our money long enough. Instead of managing football for the general interest, they are only concerned with fictitious missions, first class travels and untraceable bank accounts in Europe.’
Last week, Eto’o and 10 other players refused to turn out for Indomitable Lions for a friendly in Tanzania, citing injury. They had failed to qualify for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroon FA are yet to comment on the claims this morning, though last week a senior official accused the striker of attempting to destabilise football in the country.

Cameroonian born T'mah Mba is Executive Vice President of Konvict Muzik !
As Konvict Musik’s Senior Vice President of A&R, Fotemah Mba a.k.a “T’mah”, is the living proof that America truly is the land of opportunity. Although he has always dreamed big, as an immigrant, he never imagined he’d be working alongside the top artists in the world and conducting business amongst the music industry’s most prominent executives. Currently standing as the Senior Vice President of Konvict Muzik, Buvision, and Konlive, the young West African Native still has his mind on greater things to come. Although T’mah’s story begins in Cameroon, West Africa, the book of his life and travels is much thicker than that. The son of a distinguished educator and diplomat he spent most of his young life traveling the world.
T’mah was exposed to the cultures of such places as Algeria, Belgium & the United States; for this reason is a fluent speaker of four different languages. Even as a youngster he had an ear for music and was energized by the diverse sounds made known to him through his travels. T’mah was fortunate to have gained an appreciation for all types of music which includes but is not limited to Zouk, Makossa, Hip Hop, Ndobolo, house, reggae and pop. However being exposed to music wasn’t enough, he dreamed to be a part of the music and knew that this dream would be reality.
T’mah moved back to the United States at the age of 14. He maintained the life of any regular scholar graduating from Riverdale High School and going on to receive his bachelor’s in business marketing from Colorado Technical University and associates in Computer Science from Atlanta Metropolitan College. In the midst of his secondary education he was honing his skills as a writer and producer. It wasn’t until 1994 when he was introduced to “Akon” that he realized there was much more to music, there was a business and that was where he found his true niche. T’mah went on to take part in many of the projects that have changed the music industry as we know it today. He has been recognized along with Christoper Young for the discovery of Sean Garret & “We The Best” recording artist Jarvis. He played a major role in the early career of Johnta Austin and is still key in projects such as Akon, Cyhi Da Prince, Audio (formerlyB5) Lil Niqo.
T’mah plays the bridge between the industries best and moguls, A-kon, Bu Thiam (VP of Def Jam), and the duly noted Devyne Stephens. He is slated by the industries best to be “next-up.” And with those blessings he still has dreams to head a production/management company and also establish his own successful record label. Tmah lives to inspire and mentor the upcoming young execs in the music business. Being in fear of deportation most of his life, T’mah continued to pursue his dreams of being in the music business now as a citizen of the United States and thriving mogul he owes all of his current success, friendships, and blessings to only God.

Strike at the Uinversity of Buea, Vice Chancellor Nalova Lyonga humilited!
Sources from the University of Buea have confirmed the heavy presence of forces of law and order on Campus trying to calm swirling tensions of the strike that began Wednesday February 6, 2013. The strike said to be incited by the University of Buea Student Union, UBSU, is motivated by the lack of photocopying machines on campus, low premiums given to students after march pass, insufficient businessmen to sell fast food on campus among many other grievances, our sources say.
Representatives of UBSU are said to be on campus this Thursday February 7, 2013 sending away students who attempt entering the campus. They say they want a student-free campus until their demands are met.
One of the students who accepted speaking to us on the condition of anonymity, said the strike started around 7:30 am. He says they were sitting in for a test when suddenly UBSU members barged in requesting they join the protest.
On Wednesday, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, was temporally held hostage by the striking students for over three hours in her car as she made her way into the campus early that morning. The students went further hitting hard on her Car.They also humiliated her she urinated on herself under duress! It was then that Governor Bernard Okala of the South West Region and Lord Mayor of the Buea Rural Council, Charles Mbella Moki, came to her rescue. They attempted abating the tension but to no avail. The VC was then transferred into another car and vehicled out of campus.
The University of Buea is one of the eight state universities in Cameroon noted for strike actions as this is not the first and it is not a surprise to many. Previous strikes have even resulted to deaths and many are wondering how the end of this one will be.
3 days to 11th Febuary Celebrations no theme yet !
Its surprising enough to know that we're only 3 days to Celebrations marking the 47th Edition of the Youth day in Cameroon and yet to have a theme. That is normal for our country oh! Yet President biya will come out saying we are the leaders of tomorrow and how he has put in place infrastructure in the various state universities to aid us and his 2035 plan and all that Bla Bla Bla ! A man who got into Government by the age of 30 and 50 years later sees himself as a youth !
